On non-fungible artworks

Thought experiment; on parallel universes art is different

“Culture”/humanities are just instances of philosophy — you can theoretically throw all of them away once you’ve decoded the ideas.

Also, their lessons are already encoded in how society operates, so you’d absorb most of them even if never read any philosophy or set foot in a museum.

“Art” (or nonfungible anything) is different on other parallel universes: we happen to have Picasso, Van Gogh, Dalí, Michelangelo, Tarantino, Kubrick, Warhol, Haring, Michael Jackson, but on other universes there probably are different artists, different artworks, if not entirely different art forms! Meanwhile Pythagoras’ theorem is probably the same in every universe. “Art” is no source of truth.

I don’t want to advocate for humanities or science here, I just wanted to release this little thought experiment. I still think humanities and their study are instrumentally vital to society and beauty/delight expand our consciousness.
