Humans build nuclear bombs but no mouse would ever build a mousetrap

Hey friends!

One of the main ideas of the Chinese classic Tao Te Ching is that “When people see some things as beautiful, other things become ugly. When people see some things as good, other things become bad.” It gives goosebumps to see how united people get during events like pandemics and wars, how much they collaborate, how much love they share. Maybe we need pandemics and wars in order to truly appreciate peace, just as we need death in order to truly appreciate life. Or maybe we should just seek the flat absence of both ups and downs.1

By the way, Johnny Harris released another masterpiece of storytelling and research about the Russian invasion of Ukraine:

It’s so weird how just a couple of weeks ago2 I was sharing his videos about Crypto and NFTs and now we’re talking about a global conflict…

Because almost everything — all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure — these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.— Steve Jobs
