One of the main ideas of the Chinese classic Tao Te Ching is that “When people see some things as beautiful, other things become ugly. When people see some things as good, other things become bad.” It gives goosebumps to see how united people get during events like pandemics and wars, how much they collaborate, how much love they share. Maybe we need pandemics and wars in order to truly appreciate peace, just as we need death in order to truly appreciate life.
