Idiots are envious of their friends. I pray that mine are successful.

Hi, friends šŸ‘‹

I’m curious how will you all spend this summer. For those who feel like sharing, I remind you that if you reply to these emails, I get your response right in my inbox.

😯 Why you’re boring and who is interesting

The interesting person isn't someone to whom obviously and outwardly interesting things have happened: someone who's travelled the world, met important dignitaries or been present at large geopolitical events.

Nor is it someone who speaks in learned terms about the weighty themes of culture, history or science.

That’s someone who's grown into an attentive, self-aware listener and a reliable, honest correspondent of the tremors of their mind and heart and who can thereby give us faithful accounts of the pathos, drama and strangeness of being alive.1

šŸ’ø What you should do with your time and your career

At any time, one can
At every job you should either learn or earn. Either is fine. Both is best. But if it's neither, quit.— Garry Tan
The only way to make a ton of money (and eventually retire early) is to keep investing your time (and money) into growing its value (for the long term) rather than ā€œliquidatingā€ its current value (for the short term).

But if you, let’s say, desire to travel and go on adventures, you don’t want to wait until you’re retired, let’s say even at age 30, to start doing what you desire to do.2

Even if you keep investing and investing your time for the long-term, the short term is important too. You don’t want your present to be crap and you don’t want to trade your health for money, of course.3

Also, we don’t go to work just for the money.4

You want to invest your time to grow its value while also having fun and falling in love and doing the things you like and desire the most.

Job satisfaction and relationships, in the end, are more satisfying than just earning a ton of money working from a tropical location, though that may feel good too, but probably only in the short term.5
